In My Opinion: Best Drugstore Lipglosses
I hope to make this a new series in where I post lists of products that I think are the best. This one is all about lipglosses. You don’t have to agree with me, that’s one of the great things about having your own opinion!
Wet N Wild Speed Glosses ($3.99): I these are some of my newest acquisitions, but I already love them a lot. These come in a squeeze tube with a hard plastic applicator, that spreads the product easily. These are slightly sticky, and are very pigmented. There is a distinct minty taste in these glosses. They remind me of the B&BW C.O. Bigelow squeeze glosses.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss ($6.99): These have long been a favorite of beauty junkies around the world. They are non sticky, long lasting and come in a wonderful selection of colors. These glosses are pigmented, but can also be applied sheerly as well. I find that I can wear these alone or paired with a lipstick. There is barely any taste or scent to these glosses, so they are perfect for people who do not want or like taste or fragrance in their lipglosses.
Milani Crystal Gloss ($3.99): If I didn’t know any better, I would think that these glosses were MAC lipglasses in a different tube. Crystal Glosses have the same texture, scent and staying power as the lipglasses, only with a much, much smaller price tag. I only have one of these right now, but I absolutely adore it, and it has proven itself to be a wonderful, high quality gloss.
Milani Lip Mixers($6.99): Even though these are brand spankin’ new on the market, I already feel that these are some of the best glosses available. The idea behind these glosses, is that you mix the three different layers in the tube to get one shimmery, highshine color. I love these glosses, because they are heavily pigmented, and that they last for a good while on the lips. The scent is pleasant to me, it’s a grape-y scent that some people may like or dislike. The taste and scent goes away after a few minutes though, leaving a gorgeous gloss behind. I have four of these, and I love every single one of them. It’s a good thing that these are permanent.
NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss($4-5): For the longest time, these glosses were the only ones that I wore. The texture was smooth and non sticky, and they were long lasting compared to other non sticky glosses. They are also quite pigmented, only a few of them are sheer. The scent to me, is very pleasant, it reminds me of cherry lollipops. My HG nude gloss is in the shade Natural, which is the perfect brown / pinkish color. Even though I have these glosses listed under drugstore, NYX isn’t really found in many drugstore/ chain stores. They can be found online, and at random Beauty Supply stores. They are well worth the search.
Sally Hansen Lipnotic Gem Gloss ($6.99): Two words: DAZZLEGLASS DUPES! These glosses came out last year around the time MAC’s DazzleGlass lipglasses came out. I feel that these glosses by Sally Hansen are really good, cheaper alternatives of the expensive MAC ones. Both glosses are sheer, while being overloaded with shimmer and shine. Many people are split on these glosses, some like the Sally Hansen ones, while others do not feel that they are good alternatives. I personally love these, and they work well for both day time and night time.
Sally Hansen Natural Butter Lip Shine ($5.99): Last, but certainly not least, are these glosses. The texture is interesting, it reminds me of a jelly gloss, so it’s not quite as liquidy as other glosses. These apply sheerly, so they are not a pigmented as the Milani or NYX glosses. The glosses are down right tasty, they remind me strongly of fruit punch, so I feel like I have drunk some punch every time I apply this gloss. These are not long lasting at all, but I still think they are worth it just for the mirror like shine they babies give off!
You can find all these glosses at your local drugstore. Always be on the look out for sales!!

Everyday Products Jan 2009
When I go to do my makeup, there are a few products that I use everytime. I wouldn’t call these products my Holy Grails, but they are the ones I trust to do their jobs
. Some of these products I have written reviews on, and some of these are still waiting in the wings.
All of these products go in a little bucket on my desk, which makes it easy for me to get to them every morning, allowing me more time to spend on my eyes. These products include my primer, foundie, setting powder, fave blush and more. I love having all of these products close at hand. It makes it easy to do everything.
- Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel: This is my primer of choice. I always start with this product first, placing a light layer over my skin, sans eyes to prep my skin for my foundie. I don’t put this on my eyes, because I have a separate primer for that.
Urban Decay Primer Potion: After I apply my Monistat primer, I always use this stuff on my eyes. It is absolutely wonderful, and I don’t know how I even lived without it. I allow this stuff to dry after I apply it, because if I don’t my eyeshadow will look like hell at the end of the day.
NYX Concealer in a Jar: This is my fave concealer right now. It is extremely creamy and applies like a dream under my eyes and over blemishes on my face and neck. The color “Light” is just slightly lighter than my skin tone, which brightens up my face a little bit. I apply this after my primer and before my foundation. This goes well under both my liquid foundation and my powder one.
Maybeline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation: This has quickly become one of my favorite foundies. I use to use powder mineral foundie in the summer, but I changed up and got a liquid for the winter. The color matches my skin perfectly and the coverage is light and buildable.
Aromaleigh Ultra – Resolution Finishing Powder: I use this powder to set my makeup everyday. This is a dupe of the MUFE HD Powder, only this one was cheaper. LOL. This works very well over my Maybeline foundation to keep it from shining all day. I apply this stuff either by my Sonia Kashuk skunk brush (MAC 187 dupe) or my big and fluffy Ecotools powder brush. You need just a light layer to set your makeup. Too much of this product and it will wash out your makeup.
Milani Luminous Blush (Old Version) I use this blush all the time. It’s the perfect pinky gold that makes my light medium neutral skin glow with life. The version I have is the old version, before Milani reformulated their blushes to be “mineral blushes.” I have yet to try the new Luminous blush, so I can’t say if it is as nice as the original one.
HIP Creme Liner in Black: This is my go to eyeliner for everyday. I have become hooked on using this product daily. This dries quickly after applying it and it lasts all day without fading or flaking off. It’s drier than the MAC fluidlines, but that doesn’t bother me at all. I have this creme liner in all of the colors, but I always go back to the black.
So these are my daily products, that I just can’t live without right now. This can change as I purchase new items to add into my collection. I hope you guys enjoyed this!
Beauty Resolutions
I know this is a few days late, but I thought I’d list my beauty resolutions for 2009.
1. Skincare!! I want to get on and stick with a skin care routine. Through out most of my life I’ve been very lucky when it comes to my skin. I never really get any breakouts or problems. However this year I am turning 24 and I want to start taking care of my skin, because I kinda like having good looking skin.
2. SPF!!!! I am really, really bad at wearing SPF, so I am going to try and keep up with wearing it on a daily basis. At least on the exposed parts of my body. This resolution has been slightly easier to do with the use of a liquid foundie with 19 SPF in it.
3. Wearing Makeup on A Daily Basis. I have tons of makeup, but I rarely ever wear it. I need to start making sure I have SOMETHING on before I leave the house on most days.
4. Rotating Makeup. When I do wear makeup, I tend to wear the same three or four items, and when you have a large stash, that means a lot of really stuff is left alone. I want to get into the habit of switching things up so I can have more of a variety of looks.
5. Working Out at the Gym. I have a gym membership, but I have very little self discipline to actually make myself go and actually work out there. So decided to look and may have found a potential gym buddy to work out with. Hopefully this will help me get in better shape, and allow me to make a new friend.
6. Organization! I am a terribly messy person, and this year I am going to try to keep everything more need and organized. This includes my bathroom and my bedroom.
I don’t think these are too hard to follow, do you? I am actually serious about this, this time around. I just hope I feel the same when my birthday rolls around in June!
2008: My Year in Beauty
2008 was one hell of a year for me. Both personally and professionally, but that’s for another day. This past year all brought me all the way into the world of beauty with the start of this blog. I became aware of sooo many brands and products that I had previously never heard of.
I would like to share with you what has changed my life beauty-wise.
Creme/ Gel eyeliners – Finally mastering the art of gel liners. This opened up a whole world of colors and looks for me once I was able to master using an angled brush and gel / creme liners. My favorite liners from this year are hands down the L’Oreal HiP Creme Liners.
Mineral Makeup – This has got to be the BIGGEST thing that happened to me makeup wise over the past year. My face kept breaking out in pimples everytime I tried a new foundation so, I was stoked to find a foundie that matched my skin and kept me from breaking out.
EcoTools – I have fallen in love with these new brushes on the market. They are some of the softest brushes I have ever used. They are synthetic and are made out of earth friendly products. I adore the eyeshadow brush for cream eyeshadows and the blush brush is just heavenly.
NYX Cosmetics – This is one of THE GREATEST drugstore brands I have come across. I absolutely love almost everything I have received from this brand. The only thing that I don’t love is their pencil eyeliners, because they seem slightly under pigmented. But I don’t care for pencil liners anyway.
Urban Decay Palettes – I love these things. Amazing quality and price. My favorite is the Book of Shadows. My first true high end love.
Urban Decay Primer Potion – Enough said.
These are some of the things that changed my beauty life – what are some of yours?
Beauty Find: A HUGE List of Makeup Sites
I was surfing around the internet last night and I came across a web page that had a huge, I mean HUGE list of links that were all about the Beauty World. I consider myself pretty damn knowledgeable when it comes to online Beauty sites, I’ve been obsessed with them for over a year now, and I thought I knew all of the really, really good ones, but boy was I WRONG!
This collection has everything, there are links to different cosmetics companies, some you know, New York Color, and OPI to some lesser known ones. There are also sites with beauty tips and tricks that can benefit everyone from the absolute beginner to a seasoned makeup artist.
So, what are you waiting for? You NEED to check out this list!!!!
My Favorite Products
One of the main reasons I started this blog earlier this year was to have an excuse to buy more makeup than I actually need, you know for research…
Besides, what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t research all the latest products?
This list is one of the results from all my hard research, my current favorite products. These are the products that I absolutely fell in love with, but I wouldn’t call them HG’s.
