Review: Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired By Carmindy: Your Skin Makeup

Name: Your Skin Makeup

Product: 5/5

Price: $12:99

Available: CVS, Ulta

I have recently been on a foundation binge, looking for the best one for my face.  And I believe I have found it. I bought this foundation and the loose powder from CVS a few months ago when it was BOGO Free, I picked up the color Nude Beige, which was litterally my perfect shade, My skin is between NC 20 and NC 25, with neutral undertones, so I was happy to get the right color on the first try. This foundation has been touted as the drugstore / budget version of Makeup Forever’s HD liquid foundation. This isn’t something that I agree with. I tested the MUFE foundation with a sample from Sephora, and I was very dissapointed in it’s performance and feel.

Your Skin Makeup, however was a completely different experience for me. This applies wonderfully onto my skin, it’s a very creamy liquid foundation. which applied onto my skin easily and blended extremely well. This has medium to full coverage, making it very buildable. Since I live in N. Florida, I am in definite need of a foundation that will last in this 95+ heat, and doesn’t break out my oily somewhat acne prone skin. I have been using this foundie semi regularly since I got it, and I am supremely happy with its wear and performance. It doesn’t oxidize (turn orange) on my skin, which is a problem that a lot of people have with foundations.

The title of this foundation is extremely long and winded, but it’s claim that it is “Your Skin , But Better” is right on the mark. I feel that this foundation has become my top HG for liquid foundation, knocking Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation from the top. I believe that this is a product that I will continue to buy – even if it’s not on sale. I love this product that much. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good liquid foundation.

Review: Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation

I have been using this foundation for a few months now, and I am almost through with my first bottle. I started wearing this foundation because I wanted a liquid foundation that didn’t break my skin out, but I didn’t want to spend top dollar on something from Sephora or the MAC counter. So when CVS had a too good to pass up promotion on this foundation – I jumped on the chance to try it out. I lucked out on my color choice – 4 Nude was the first color I purchased, and fortunately it matched my skin perfectly. I have light-medium neutral skin, which is around 25 NC in MAC.

This liquid foundation is everything I could want right now in a foundie. It applies evenly over my skin, I dab it on with my Sonia Kashuk skunk brush (187 dupe) and I apply a light layer that gives me light coverage. The foundation can be built up to medium coverage with no caking. I always use my Monistat Anti Chafing Gel as my primer before using this product. So I never have to deal with break outs from this product. I highly recommend that you check this product out the next time you are looking for a decent and cheap liquid foundation. I’m sure you can mix this foundation in with your moisturizer for a great tinted moisturizer. The other good thing about this foundation is that it comes with 18 SPF. Which is always a good thing.

Would I Purchase Again :D epends

** NOTICE: WHEN IT COMES TO FOUNDATIONS WHAT WORKS AND DOES NOT WORK ON MY SKIN, DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE PRODUCT IS NOT A GOOD PRODUCT. I HAVE VERY PICKY SKIN AND THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION.**

I received this foundation in my group of samples to try and review. I got two shades, Light #2 and Medium #2 which are the two lightest shades that are offered for people with a neutral tone. The Light #2 was too light for my skin and the color of Medium #2 was a little off as well. But when I added a little bit of the Light to the Medium, the color matched my skin pretty well.

The wear of the foundation was decent – it was gone by the end of the day, which is normal for me because I tend to sweat everything off during the day because the humidity in North East Florida is crazy. The coverage of the foundation was sheer, but it was buildable into light/ medium coverage. This would be good for people who want light coverage. Since I have been having skin problems lately, I had to use a pretty heavy duty concealer under this foundation. The foundation did however blend into the concealer quite well, so it wasn’t obvious that I had a cream concealer on underneath. After I apply my foundation, blush and eye makeup, I always use a setting / finishing powder, and even then I still need to blot, and I still had this problem with this foundation – but I expected that.

Final Thoughts: This is a good foundation, in my opinion, it’s just not for me especially during the summer months. The problems I had with this foundation are the same I’ve had with several other mineral foundations. I’ve had tried many, many foundations over the past year, and only two out of all of those have really worked for my skin, and that was Aubrey Nicole and Mad Minerals. The reason these work on my skin is that they go onto my skin very creamily, so they tend to hold better onto my skin. The Alice Cosmetics foundation went onto my skin easily enough, there was just a little bit of chalkiness that I was able to buff away. So I think that if you are looking for a new mineral foundation to try, then I would recommend you give this foundation a try. Because, like I said several times, just because it didn’t work like a dream for me, doesn’t mean that it won’t be what you are looking for.

Review: Aubrey Nicole Foundation

Name: Light-Medium Full Coverage Foundation

Product: 5/5

Price: 26.95 for a 3 OZ Jar

Available: Aubrey Nicole

I love this foundation. If I didn’t love it, I wouldn’t have bought the full sized jar, and since I bought the super sized jar, that should tell you SOMETHING! I am very much a commitment phobic person when it comes to foundation, which is one of the reasons I’ve fallen in love with mmu, it gives me the chance to try tons of foundations without making a serious commitment to just one.

However, after falling in love with the Aubrey Nicole sample I ordered a while ago, I knew I MUST order a full sized jar. Fortunately for me, Aubrey Nicole decided to have a huge sale throughout the month of July, giving 20% off everything in the store so I managed to pick up my foundie for about $21, which is not bad at all, considering how many years this thing will last me, NO JOKE!

Ok, on to the review; Aubrey Nicole offers two types of foundations, soft coverage and full coverage. The soft coverage seemed too light for me, so I went with the full coverage instead. I feel that with the full coverage, I have better control over how much coverage I actually get. The foundation applies very nicely for me, and the foundation color is a perfect match for my skin color. The powder seems to melt into my skin, so you can’t tell that I am wearing foundation.

The coverage I tend to aim for is light/ medium which means I only do a layer or two of the full coverage for it to look good. With my Monistat primer, this foundation practically lasts all day for me, which a great thing, considering I live in Florida and it’s SUMMER! The humidity here has been a b**ch. LOL. So I am thrilled about how long this foundie lasts in this blasted heat.

Final Thoughts: I don’t have many requirements for foundation, as long as it doesn’t break me out, matches my skin and stays put for most of the day, I’m a happy girl. For me, this foundation does everything I need it to and I’m satisfied with what I have now.

Will I ever try more foundies? Most likely.

Will I ever buy another full jar of a different foundie? Probably.

But for now, I’m completely happy with my Aubrey Nicole Foundation.

** I’ll post pictures tomorrow night!!**
