Beauty Reviews, Tips, and Tricks on a Budget!

Mail Haul! Curtesy of Total Beauty

Imagine my surprise when I got a new package in this morning that contained my next set of Total Beauty Sneak Peak program!!! A lot of the times when I get something from Total Beauty, it’s something that I typically wouldn’t be interested in and spend my hard earned money on. Well, this time I was truly excited to receive these items.

I have actually been running low on my fave shampoo and conditioner combo (Aussie Opposites Attract Protect & Soften), and have been dragging my feet on purchasing a new set. Have I mentioned before that I’m really cheap? LOL. Anyway I had been eyeing the new hair care collections that have been coming out from Herbal Essences, even though I didn’t care for Totally Twisted.

So today in the box, I recieved the full line of Herbal Essences new line called “Tousle Me Softly.” I am already loving the deep purple and floral design of the bottles, so I am excited to break into the products tonight.

Here is everything I recieved:

Tousle Me Softly Shampoo

Tousle Me Softly Conditioner

Tousle Me Softly Hairspray Fixtif

Tousle Me Softly Mousse

Tousle Me Softly Spray Gel

Tousle Me Softly Finishing Touch Cream

Everything execpt the Finishing Touch Cream runs for about $3. The Finishing Cream is a little bit more expensive at $5.49 or so. So keep an eye out for future reviews on these products!!!

Mega NYX Anniversary Haul from Cherry Culture & NYX Cosmetics

I finally got around to taking pictures of my two NYX hauls from Cherry Culture and the NYX Cosmetics website.  I spent around $90, including shipping. I was very happy with everything I bought.

Sheer Gloss Tubes: I reviewed two of these babies here, and I loved them so much, despite their cons, that I decided to buy one in almost every color. I even bought 4 tubes of the clear, because I want to mix it with different pigments for personalized lipglosses. I’ll probably take up close and personal pictures of the glosses once I place them into pots. I already placed a few into pots, as you can see in the picture

Pink

Plum

Blush

Clear (4x)

Peach

Lilac

Nude

Taupe

Kiss

Beige

Posey

Gold

Fuchsia

Concealer in a Jars: I already own and love my Concealer in a Jar in the Light shade reviewed here, so I thought I would give the Green and Yellow colors a go. The green is suposed to counteract redness, and the yellow is for brightening up dark circles.

Yellow

Green

NYX Chrome Eyeshadows: I already owned several of these, and I really like their finely milled texture, so I picked up a couple of more colors.

Beauty Queen (Purple w/ Puple Glitter)

Geisha (Pink w/ Gold)

NYX Rouge Cream Blushes: I had never tried these before, but I was super curious, so I picked up two to try.

Rose Petal (Pinky / Peach)

Tea Rose (Tan / Pink)

NYX Shadow Trios: I had recieved testers of all of these in my Rep kit, but these were marked down to $2 a peice, so I picked up some of my favorite trios, so I would have them in the compacts.

Princess Pink/Flamcenco/Violet

Front Row (Left to Right):

I picked up 15 of these singles from the sale. They were a buck and change on the NYX Cosmetics, so I went a little happy.

CVS Memorial Weekend Haul

Here is my CVS haul from Memorial Day weekend. This haul is all about L’Oreal and Milani products.  I ended up buying a backup of one of the L’Oreal eyeshadows – Baby Spice. It is a gorgeous sheer taupe color that is going to be a fave!!!

The entire haul:

Milani Lipsticks:

Glamorous: (Coral), Delicious (Pink)

Swatches:

Milani Quad: Wild Violets

Milani Crystal Gloss: Innocent (Clear Shimmer), Plush Baby (Mauve Shimmer)

L’Oreal Colour Juice Stick: Strawberry Fields, Plum Crazy, Watermelon Ice, Chai Love You (2x)

(Forgot to take a solo picture of these)

These are my favorite lipsticks. The scent is amazing and they are extremely glossy. These are backups for my favorite colors.

L’Oreal Bare Naturale Eyeshadow: Bare Gold, Bare Lavendar, Baby Spice (2x), Bare Olive

This whole haul came in around $23. I was super excited!!

Target Haul

I finally got around to taking pictures of my Target haul, that did a while ago. I have lots of hauls to catch up with, so expect a lot of haul posts to appear. I didn’t purchase everything at once. So don’t think it was one gigantic mega haul. LOL.

At Target, a lot of Sonia Kashuk products had been clearanced out, so naturally I took advantage of the deep discount to pick a few items. Because, of course, I don’t have enough product already.

Sonia Kashuk Lip Palettes:

Shimmering Sorbets: This is a very pretty shimmery palette that go from natural and sheer to a bright pop of color for the summer. I, of course had to swatch everything ASAP and you can see where I accidently dug my lip brush into the lippie and messed it up. LOL.

Sonia Kashuk Enhanced Eyeshadow:

Revlon Super Lustrous:

Shine That Pink: This is a meduim pink that is absolutely beautiful. The best part is that this has an SPF of 15!

Dual Finish Brush: This is the newest skunk brush on the market, and in my opinion, it’s the best quality one with the very best price: $6.99

Ulta Grand Opening & Haul

Well… The Ulta Beauty that I’ve been waiting for, for over a year now has finally opened. I was fortunate enough to know the mother of an employee, so I managed to get a few fliers that gave me 20% off any purchase, so of course I did a bit of hauling. I was quite impressed with the size and selection that Ulta offers. Given this was my very first Ulta trip ever, I was pretty excited to just be there. I can definitely see myself going back again and again. It is a much needed addition to Jacksonville. :-)

Ulta had their house brand, Ulta Cosmetics & Ulta Minerals on sale, BOGO Free for the Grand Opening, so I picked up a few items to try out. I was happy with most of the items I picked up, but two of them are definitely going back.

Ulta Mineral Powder Eyeshdow:

Jade – A light green with a blue undertone. Almost, but not quite a lime green.

Amethyst – A deep purple with silver sparkle.

Atlantis -  Deep Blue Green with multi colored pearl.

Petal – A duocrome Pink / Gold.

These are the shadows that I absolutely love! I don’t have any colors that are exactly like these in my collection to date, so it’s very exciting to own these.

These are the two items that are going back to the store for an exchange:

Mineral Shadow in Gleam – I liked this shadow in the store, mostly because of the multi pearl that I saw when I tested this. When I got it home, the pearl that I loved so much, wasn’t there anymore. It’s a pinky beige color that has a nice sheen to it. It a pinkier version of Stila’s Kitten, which is a color that I already own. It’s good quality – just something I won’t get any use out of.

Ulta Super Shiny Lipgloss in Goddess – This has extremely high reviews on different sites as a dupe of both Nars Orgasm and MAC’s Nymphette. This was the color that I wanted when I walked into the door. This was my greatest dissapointment, the shimmer nor the color show up on my medium pigmented lips. The texture is very, very thin and doesn’t last long on the lips. I don’t care for the taste or lack of taste of it, depending on your taste buds.

NYX Sale, A Very Little Buy, & New Blog

I’m sure all of you already know about the NYX 50% sale that is going on now. So I’m not going to talk about it! The only thing I will say is that is going on now at Cherry Culture and the NYX Cosmetics website. I have taken advantage of this sale, and I will probably take advantage of it again before it’s over on the 15th.

Infact I have made the date of May 15th, the start of a Very Little Buy. This is like a No Buy, but I will cut back my spending a major deal. I have way too much crap as it is, and I’m starting to get annoyed with buying so much makeup. So I want to go on a Very Little Buy, in where I can still purchase something, but do it in a way that it doesn’t consume me anymore.  I still want to give myself a little bit of wiggle room, if I find something I really need or want. I want to be able to still purchase my favorite foundtion if I run out or if I come across a brush that I have my heart set on. But no more buying, just to have something. It feel like there isn’t anything new I already don’t have.

I do planning on finishing up my hauling from NYX, but as far as I can see, that’s about it. I don’t see myself doing any huge hauls after that for a while. I am planning on posting about that haul when everything comes in, and my haul from this past week. This past week I bought quite a bit, including MAC and Wet N Wild. I see that I need to find something else to keep me occupied now other than makeup shopping.

On that note, I am seriously, seriously considering starting up a new blog in where I talk about fitness stuff. I really want to get back into working out, and finding new ways to keep myself entertained while working out. Right now I’m looking at purchasing a new pair of rollerblades so I can skate again. I used to skate all the time when I was elementary school when rollerblades were extremely popular. But I’ll keep you guys updated on what is happening with that.

Small CVS Haul

I hit up CVS after work today, because I had some coupons that were about to expire today, and I wanted to use them while I had the ability. I hit up the sales that start today, because I feel that getting to the store on the day it starts, gives me the best selection of products. Today I took advantage of the Milani Buy one Get One 50% off sale, and the Physician’s Formula 40% off everything sale. I love the 40% off sales, because that allows you to get a good discount off of something without having to purchase items in pairs. I also really dislike the BOGO 50% off sales, because to me, that’s a pretty lousy sale – but brands like Milani NEVER go on BOGO Free sales, so I just have to suck it up and deal with it. LOL.

I almost bought some of the big domed wet dry singles that Milani released, but most of the reviews I had read of them basically say that they are terrible in performance and quality.  So I decided against those and I went for something else instead.

Here is my little 4 item haul! LOL…

Milani:

Earthly Delights quad – this has some GORGEOUS Greens colors in it.

Glimmer Stripes in Berry Glimmer – I already had two other colors – Bronze and Honey – which are more bronz-y than the Berry color. Berry is very cool toned with lots of pinks and purples. I have been eyeing it for a while now. I think it will make an awesome blush and eyeshadow. I can’t wait to use it!

Physician’s Formula:

Baked Collection Wet / Dry Eyeshadow in Baked Oatmeal & Baked Sands. I have a thing right now for baked / domed eyeshadows. I have been loving my MAC and Stila baked shadows and I wanted to get more to add to my collection. Since CVS had these 40% off and I had a $5 off coupon for PF, I decided to splurge and pick up two of these trios. I have never used these before, but I had heard some vey good things. Both of these trios have very pretty neutral colors, so I’m looking forward to trying these babies out!
