Meat Loaf: Objects in the Rear View Mirror may Appear Closer Than They are
Sometimes you come across that one particular song that makes you stop in your tracks and brings you to tears wherever you are. For me this song is that one song. The first time I heard this song, was on my mp3 player standing in TJ Maxx looking for discounted makeup. I had to leave the store, before someone could ask why there are tears streaming down my face. If I thought the recording was powerful, it’s NOTHING compared to the live version.
The skies were pure and the fields were green
And the sun was brighter than it’s ever been
When I grew up with my best friend Kenny
We were close as any brothers than you ever knew
It was always summer and the future called
We were ready for adventures and we wanted them all
And there was so much left to dream and so much time to make it real
But I can still recall the sting of all the tears when he was gone
They said he crashed and burned
I know I’ll never learn why any boy should die so young
We were racing, we were soldiers of fortune
We got in trouble but we sure got around
There are times I think I see him peeling out of the dark
I think he’s right behind me now and he’s gaining ground
Chorus:
But it was long ago and it was far away, oh God it seems so very far
And if life is just a highway, then the soul is just a car
And objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are
And objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are
And objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are
And objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are
(Solo)
And when the sun descended and the night arose
I heard my father cursing everyone he knows
He was dangerous and drunk and defeated
And corroded by failure and envy and hate
There were endless winters and the dreams would freeze
Nowhere to hide and no leaves on the trees
And my father’s eyes were blank as he hit me again and again and again
I know I still believe he’d never let me leave, I had to run away alone So
many threats and fears, so many wasted years before my life became my own
And though the nightmares should be over
Some of the terrors are still intact
I’ll hear that ugly coarse and violent voice
And then he grabs me from behind and then he pulls me back
chorus
(Solo)
There was a beauty living on the edge of town
And she always put the top up and the hammer down
And she taught me everything I’ll ever know
About the mystery and the muscle of love
The stars would glimmer and the moon would glow
I’m in the back seat with my Julie like a Romeo
And the signs along the highway all said, Caution! Kids At Play!
Those were the rights of spring and we did everything
There was salvation every night
We got our dreams reborn and our upholstery torn
But everything we tried was right
She used her body just like a bandage, she used my body just like a wound
I’ll probably never know where she disappeared But I can see her rising up
out of the back seat now Just like an angel rising up from a tomb
chorus
And objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are
(repeats 6x)
And objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are
(repeats 6x)
She used her body just like a bandage, she used my body just like a wound
I’ll probably never know where she disappeared But I can see her rising up
out of the back seat now
Repo: Chase The Morning
Last night, another scene from the movie Repo The Genetic Opera debuted on MySpace TV. This is one of my favorite songs from the entire movie, and it is absolutely gorgeous. It is a duet between world renown opera singer SARAH BRIGHTMAN and actress Alexa Vega. This song absolutely rocks my freakin’ socks, and everyone and I mean EVERYONE needs to see this video.
So watch it, love it, and post it everywhere your little heart desires
And since we are the subject of Repo, I want to add the Zydrate Anatomy scene clip as well. This is the first full length scene from the movie to make its debut online. This is also the clip that has Paris Hilton in it as Amber Sweet. I was pleasantly surprised to see her doing a good job in this scene.
If you guys love this videos and want to know more head on over to http://www.repo-opera.com to check out the site and join the message boards.
Womanizer, Womanizer, Womanizer
Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard that Britney Spears is making her comeback at the end of this year with the release of Circus, her sixth studio album. Her latest single Womanizer has been blowing up the charts since it was released a few weeks ago. This song is super catchy and I have to admit, that Britney looks effing AMAZING in the video, and the guy is also f**king gorgeous. He has played certain roles in my recent dreams….
So here is the video for Womanizer, and make sure you have least an half hour blocked off to watch this video, because you will want to watch it over and over again!!
You can thank me for getting this song stuck in your head.
BTW: I LOVE those shoes she’s wearing in the chauffeur scene. Those things are FIERCE!!!
The Twilight Soundtrack!!!
The soundtrack to Twilight The Movie has been announced, and the awesome thing is that Rob is on the album!!! He wrote and sang one of the songs on the album. Another cool thing about this soundtrack, is that all the songs are featured somewhere in the movie. So each piece should have a special meaning to all of the Twilighters out there. In fact, I’m going to enjoy listening to the album and trying to decide which song belongs where in the movie.
It should keep me busy until the movie comes out on 11/21!!!!!!!

Repeat Thursday: Shipoopi!
I know that it is Friday, not Thursday, but let that be our own little secret. This week’s Repeat entry, does NOT involve my beloved Meat Loaf (GASP!) but Peter Griffin from Family Guy.
For those of you who watch Family Guy regularly, you know that FG loves music and musicals. MANY of the episodes have musical interludes and this week’s Repeat Thursday high lights one of those songs. The episode that I want to bring attention to is “Patriot Games” in which Peter becomes a football player, and ends up playing for London’s Silly Nannies team, the worst team in England. After making a touchdown, Peter ends up performing an entire song with audience choreography. The song he sings is “Shipoopi” which was written originally for the 1957 musical “The Music Man“
Here is the version from The Music Man:
Here is the Family Guy version (This is my FAVORITE version!):
Here are the lyrics:
Now a woman who’ll kiss on a very first date, Is usually a hussy, And a woman who’ll kiss on the second time out, Is anything but fussy, But a woman who’ll wait ’till the 3rd time around, Head in the clouds, feet on the ground, She’s the girl he’s glad he’s found, She’s his Shipoopi.
Shipoopi, Shipoopi, Shipoopi, The girl who’s hard to get. Shipoopi, Shipoopi, Shipoopi, But you can win her yet.
Walk her once just to raise the curtain, Then you walk around twice and you make for certain. Once more in the flower garden, She will never get sore if you beg her pardon.
Do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si, do, Si, la, sol, fa, mi, re, do.
Squeeze her once when she isn’t lookin’. If you get a squeeze back that’s fancy cookin’. Once more for a pepper-upper, She will never get sore on her way to supper,
Do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si, do, si, do,
Now little ol’ sal was a No-gal, As anyone could see, Look at her now, She’s a Go-Gal, Who only goes for me,
Squeeze her once when she isn’t lookin’. If you get a squeeze back that’s fancy cookin’. Once more for a pepper-upper, She will never get sore on her way to supper,
Do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si, do, si, do,
Shipoopi, shipoopi, shipoopi, The girl who’s hard to get, Shipoopi, shipoopi, shipoopi, But you can win her yet.
(Musical/Dance Break)
Shipoopi, Shipoopi, Shipoopi, The girl who’s hard to get. Shipoopi, shipoopi, shipoopi, But you can win her yet.
You can win her yet!
Shipoopi!
Workout Music
I hit the gym today and jumped on the elliptical machine, which is my favorite piece of cardio. I noticed that I got more into the exercise when I was listening to certain songs, which is something that happens to everyone. So, I thought I’d share my work out songs with all of you!

Blackout by Britney Spears – I know she was going through her breakdown during the production of this album, but every time I put this album on I just feel like moving! There is not a bad song on this album, each and everyone makes me move, making the workout just fly by!
My Power Song: Toy Solider

Bat Out Of Hell & Bat Out Of Hell 3: The Monster Is Loose by Meat Loaf – These albums are two of the most popular and bestselling rock cds on the planet. Meat Loaf is larger than life rock star with a voice to match, and every song on this album is a theatrical masterpiece. I believe everyone needs to have this cd in their collection
My Power Songs: Paradise By The DashBoard Light (Bat Out Of Hell) & Seize The Night (Bat Out Of Hell 3)

Legally Blonde: The Musical – This is the soundtrack to the extremely popular musical based on the hit Reese Witherspoon movie. Like many musicals based on movies, this show has expanded on many of the ideas that were just mentioned in the movie. The entire show is quite hilarious and very enjoyable, especially when you want something light and easy. This is a nice contrast to listening to Meat Loaf.
My Power Song: Whipped Into Shape!
I hope these few selections give some of you inspiration when it comes to working out. All of these albums are available for purchase at your local music store or on Amazon
Happy Listening!
Repeat Thursday: It’s All Coming Back To Me Now!
For the past several years, one of my absolute favorite songs has been Celine Dion’s early nineties mega ballad, “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now!” The video never ceased to make me cry at the end. So imagine my surprise when I found that one of my favorite male singers, Meat Loaf, released his own version of the song asa duet between him and former M2M singer Marion Raven.
Here is the original song by Celine Dion:
This is the 2006 updated version with Meat Loaf and Marion Raven.
Here are the lyrics. In the Meat Loaf version, the word “nights” is replaced with lights
“It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”
There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed
If I just listened to it
Right outside the window
There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust
And I just knew my eyes were
Drying up forever
I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can’t remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I had ever made
But when you touch me like this
And you hold me like that
I just have to admit
That it’s all coming back to me
When I touch you like this
And I hold you like that
It’s so hard to believe but
It’s all coming back to me
(It’s all coming back, it’s all coming back to me now)
There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things I’d never do again
But then they’d always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow
Baby Baby
If I kiss you like this
And if you whisper like that
It was lost long ago
But it’s all coming back to me
If you want me like this
And if you need me like that
It was dead long ago
But it’s all coming back to me
It’s so hard to resist
And it’s all coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it’s all coming back to me now
But it’s all coming back
There were those empty threats and hollow lies
And whenever you tried to hurt me
I just hurt you even worse
And so much deeper
There were hours that just went on for days
When alone at last we’d count up all the chances
That were lost to us forever
But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then
But if I touch you like this
And if you kiss me like that
It was so long ago
But it’s all coming back to me
If you touch me like this
And if I kiss you like that
It was gone with the wind
But it’s all coming back to me
(It’s all coming back, it’s all coming back to me now)
There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things we’d never do again
But then they’d always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than all your laws allow
Baby, Baby, Baby
When you touch me like this
And when you hold me like that
It was gone with the wind
But it’s all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
Then we see what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it’s all coming back to me now
If you forgive me all this
If I forgive you all that
We forgive and forget
And it’s all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
We see just what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall but it’s all coming back to me now
(It’s all coming back to me now)
And when you kiss me like this
(It’s all coming back to me now)
And when I touch you like that
(It’s all coming back to me now)
If you do it like this
(It’s all coming back to me now)
And if we, , ,
Repeat Thursday: Paradise By The DashBoard Light
I am a huge, huge music fanatic, I love every type of music, and I thought I would post my favorite song obsession every week, and share with all of you, what I’m loving at the moment.
For this week, I am head over heels in love with one of MeatLoaf’s older songs, called Paradise By The DashBoard Light. I recently got introduced to this song through the new AT&T commercial for The GoPhone which has a parody of Paradise By The DashBoard Light called Paradise By The GoPhone Light with Meatloaf, Tiffany, and some kid from the Disney Channel – I forget what his name is, but he was on a few shows recently.
Here is the Go Phone commercial:
Lyrics:
Dad:
Let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
I can’t take it any longer
Son I’m crazed
You ask me ’bout the GoPhone every night and day
As long as there’s no surprise bills to pay
We’re gonna go get you a GoPhone today
Son:
Then I love you ’til the end of time
I swear I love you ’til the end of time
Mom:
Then we’ll go and get you a GoPhone tonight
And we’ll see paradise by the GoPhone light
Son:
Yeah!
All right!
Dad & Mom:
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
Gonna get my son a GoPhone tonight
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
Gonna get my son a GoPhone tonight
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
Gonna get my son a GoPhone tonight
Son:
Hello Milwaukee!
All right!
Yeah!
Gonna get a GoPhone tonight
Yeah
And here is the original version version by MeatLoaf and Ellen Foley
. This song is basically about teenage hormones and the boy is trying to get laid in the back of the car. However, the song is freaking awesome!
Here are the lyrics
BOY:
I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a girl
Looking any better than you did
And all the kids at school
They were wishing they were me that night
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we’re glowing like the metal
on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C’mon! Hold on tight!
C’mon! Hold on tight!
Though it’s cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
GIRL:
Ain’t no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Ain’t no doubt about it
Baby got to go and shout it
Ain’t no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
BOY:
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Baby doncha hear my heart
You got it drowning out the radio
I’ve been waiting so long
For you to come along and have some fun
And I gotta let ya know
No you’re never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes I got a big surprise
It’ll feel all right
Well I wanna make your motor run
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we’re glowing like the metal
on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C’mon! Hold on tight!
C’mon! Hold on tight!
Though it’s cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
Though it’s cold and lonely in the deep dark night
Paradise by the dashboard light
You got to do what you can
And let Mother Nature do the rest
Ain’t no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Cause we were barely seventeen
and we were barely…
We’re gonna go all the way tonight
gonna go all the way tonight
We’re gonna go all the way tonight
gonna go all the way tonight tonight
We’re gonna go all the way tonight
gonna go all the way tonight tonight
We’re gonna go all the way tonight
gonna go all the way tonight tonight
RADIO BROADCAST:
Ok, here we go.
We got a real pressure cooker going here,
two down, nobody on,
no score, bottom of the ninth…
There’s the windup, and there it is,
a line shot up the middle, look at him go.
This boy can really fly!
He’s rounding first and really turning it on now,
he’s not letting up at all, he’s gonna try for second;
the ball is bobbled out in center,
and here comes the throw, and what a throw!
He’s gonna slide in head first,
here he comes, he’s out!
No, wait, safe, safe at second base.
This kid really makes things happen out there.
Batter steps up to the plate here’s the pitch,
he’s going, and what a jump he’s got,
he’s trying for third, here’s the throw,
its in the dirt, safe at third!
Holy cow, stolen base!
He’s taking a pretty big lead out there,
almost daring him to try and pick him off.
The pitcher glances over, winds up, and it bunted,
bunted down the third base line,
the suicide squeeze is on!
Here he comes, squeeze play,
it’s gonna be close, here’s the throw,
here’s the play at the plate,
Holy cow, I think he’s gonna make it!
GIRL:
Stop right there!!!
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further!
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy
for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away
and will you make me your wife?
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away
and will you make me your wife?
I gotta know right now
Before we go any further
Do you love me!!!?
Will you love me forever!!!?
BOY:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I’ll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I’ll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I’ll give you an answer in the morning
GIRL:
I gotta know right now!
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away
and will you make me your wife?
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
BOY:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I’ll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I’ll give you an answer in the morning
GIRL:
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further
Do you love me!!!?
Will you love me forever!!!?
BOY:
Let me sleep on it!!
GIRL:
Will you love me forever!!!?
BOY:
I couldn’t take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my God
and on my mother’s grave
That I would love you to the end of time
So now I’m praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don’t think that I can really survive
I’ll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I’m praying for the end of time
It’s all that I can do, woo hoo
Praying for the end of time,
so I can end my time with you!!!
BOY:
It was long ago and it was far away
And it was so much better than it is today
GIRL:
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
And we were glowing like
A metal on the edge of a knife
Meatloaf had/has such an amazingly powerful voice!! No wonder he is such a freaking legend! I want to see him teach the AI kids a thing or two!
