Review: Physician’s Formula Baked Sweets Trio

Name: Baked Sweets Trio
Product: 2/5
Price: $7.99
Available: Wherever Physician’s Formula is sold
Out of all the Baked Trios that I purchased, this was the one I wanted the most, and the one that also disappointed the most. I was hoping that the goldish lavender color would make a good substitute for my beloved Drama Queen from Mad Minerals. I had heard conflicting reviews on this particular trio, but I decided to give it a go anyway. Unlike the other two trios, this one had absolutely no pigment what so ever. When I swatched onto my NC 25 skin, I was barely able to get any to show up on skin. When I tried to apply it wet, I actually got LESS pigment wet than dry.
The entire set had a very hard and chalky texture – which is a huge jump from the previous two trios. The only color with any viable substance was the dark purple color, and it was also way too sheer compared to the other sets. The middle pinky color goes onto the skin as a pure shimmer, you don’t get any color either dry or wet. It’s actually extremely similar to the taupey color in the Baked Oatmeal trio. Only it doesn’t perform nearly as well. So I recommend that you just completely pass up Baked Sweets and check out the other colors available. In fact, I have returned this back to Walgreens, in search of something else.
Review: Physician’s Formula Baked Sands Trio

Name: Baked Sands Trio
Product: 4/5
Price: $7.99
Available: Anywhere Physician’s Formula is sold
This is the second Baked Collections Trio that I purchased. The first one was the Baked Oatmeal Trio, which I’ve already reviewed and the third one, Baked Sweets will be posted in a few days. This trio is pretty different from Baked Oatmeal, in that Oatmeal was focused on light neutral colors, while this one is all about darker neutrals.
The colors in this trio include a light shimmery beige white color that reminds me of Stila Kitten without the pinky undertones. The second lightest color is that of a deep bronzy color that has a little bit of a copper undertone. The darkest color is a meduim brown with less shimmer than the other two colors. However, this is in no way a matte color, because non of the shadows in these trios are matte, but it’s close enough to work in the crease of an all matte look. The staying power of these is decent enough, applied with a good primer, these will last all day. Like the other trios, these can be applied both wet and dry. Wet, the colors are more pigmented and are more sheer when dry. I definitely think these are a great buy for the amount of product that you get, and the quality of the product.
Review: Physician’s Formula Baked Oatmeal Trio

Name: Baked Oatmeal Trio
Product: 4/5
Price: $7.99
Available: Anywhere Physician’s Formula is available
Whenever a brand goes on sale, I try to grab something to review for this site. This past week I Walgreens had Physician’s Formula on sale, and it’s a brand that I like – but don’t love. However I have been interested in the Baked Collection Trios, so I grabbed a few to review. I got Baked Oatmeal, Baked Sands and Baked Sweets. This review is for Baked Oatmeal.
Baked Oatmeal has three colors, a very light taupey beige color, a light true beige and a darker plummy brown. All three colors are very shimmery and are very smooth – these can be applied either dry or wet for a stronger pigmentation. All three colors work together to make a subtle daytime look for the office, and can be upgraded to a night look when applied wet. The main difference between the baked shadows and the normal shadows is that the baked ones can be used with water, and it does not ruin the entire shadow. This makes this palette very versatile, and you get plenty of products in the little bubbles of shadow. However, don’t travel with this palette, because it’s quite fragile, and the shadows can easily be broken.
I totally recommend this to anyone who wants a quality neutral palette, that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I think that these lighter colors will brighten up the eyes without bringing too much attention to the face. This is great for everyday office work!
Small CVS Haul
I hit up CVS after work today, because I had some coupons that were about to expire today, and I wanted to use them while I had the ability. I hit up the sales that start today, because I feel that getting to the store on the day it starts, gives me the best selection of products. Today I took advantage of the Milani Buy one Get One 50% off sale, and the Physician’s Formula 40% off everything sale. I love the 40% off sales, because that allows you to get a good discount off of something without having to purchase items in pairs. I also really dislike the BOGO 50% off sales, because to me, that’s a pretty lousy sale – but brands like Milani NEVER go on BOGO Free sales, so I just have to suck it up and deal with it. LOL.
I almost bought some of the big domed wet dry singles that Milani released, but most of the reviews I had read of them basically say that they are terrible in performance and quality. So I decided against those and I went for something else instead.
Here is my little 4 item haul! LOL…
Milani:
Earthly Delights quad – this has some GORGEOUS Greens colors in it.
Glimmer Stripes in Berry Glimmer – I already had two other colors – Bronze and Honey – which are more bronz-y than the Berry color. Berry is very cool toned with lots of pinks and purples. I have been eyeing it for a while now. I think it will make an awesome blush and eyeshadow. I can’t wait to use it!
Physician’s Formula:
Baked Collection Wet / Dry Eyeshadow in Baked Oatmeal & Baked Sands. I have a thing right now for baked / domed eyeshadows. I have been loving my MAC and Stila baked shadows and I wanted to get more to add to my collection. Since CVS had these 40% off and I had a $5 off coupon for PF, I decided to splurge and pick up two of these trios. I have never used these before, but I had heard some vey good things. Both of these trios have very pretty neutral colors, so I’m looking forward to trying these babies out!
Collective Hauls for this week… so far
Since I’m planning on hauling off and on for this week, I decided to break up my hauls into two posts, instead of making one mega post. I’ve been taking advantage of coupons and sales this week, which makes this a very frugal shopping week. All of these items came Ebay, Swapping, Back 2 Mac, Target and so forth.
Here is my haul for this week:
Target – They put their L’Oreal HIP eyeshadow duos on sale for $3.99 and I had a bunch of $3 off coupons, so I indulged in quite a few duos:
Wicked
Rascal
Dynamic
Sassy
Shady
Saucy
Charisma
I also picked a couple of new brushes from Sonia Kushak that I LOVE!
Pointed Blending Brush (MAC 226 dupe)
Large Crease Brush
After Target I hit up the MAC Store to turn in some empties and pick up a new lipglass. I got two mineralized eyeshadows for my B2M empties and one lipglass:
Earthy / Riches
Illusionary / Burning Ambition
Viva Glam VI Lipglass.
Pink Clash – I got this in a swap. I adore this color.
Walgreens – I had heard some good things about the Jordana Pretty Shine lipglosses, so I grabbed a couple when I ran in there a couple of days ago:
Divine
Babe
CVS – I stopped in here because I had some Physician’s Formula coupons that were about to expire along with a couple of other coupons that were expiring as well. So here is what I picked up:
Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Eyeshadow Duo in Blue Eyes Organic
Physician’s Formula Palette Powder Corrector in Green
N.Y.C. Metro Quartet in South Street Seaport
Ebay – I love and hate this site. I love the awesome deals, but I hate them as well. LOL. Well, ever since the Stila Mandarin Collection came out a couple of years ago, I had been majoring lemming the Cool Eyeshadow trio, but I wasn’t to purchase it before it went bye bye. Well I found it on ebay for $16 with free shipping. So now that little beauty is now in my collection.
Lastly I ordered some of Coastal Scents E-Z Pressing Medium from Beauty of the Earth. I refuse to purchase anything from Coastal Scents again, but I wanted that product, so I got it from Beauty of the Earth instead. I can’t wait to try it!
