This product is one of the world’s best beauty secrets. Many, upon many beauty lovers across the world use this little product as a primer before applying their makeup. I was introduced to this secret through the amazing beauty forum, MakeupTalk.Com.
I have been using Monistat as a primer for about a year now, with all types of foundations, from mineral makeup from several companies, to liquid foundations and tinted moisturizers. The purpose of the primer is to even out your skin before applying the foundation to the face. This creates a barrier between the skin and the makeup, allows the foundation to be applied smoothly.
There are many different makeup primers available. You can purchase one from SmashBox, Bare Minerals, Sephora and many other brands. However all of these essentially have the same main ingredients, which makes them work in the same way. The major differences between these makeup primers and Monistat is the price and the packaging. The makeup primers can cost between $20- $40 per bottle, while the Monistat gel can be purchased for about $6 or $7 at the local drugstore / grocery store. The other difference that turns a lot of people off is the packaging of the Monistat gel. Not that many people want whip out this product in public places because of the fact that the name Monistat is generally associated with yeast infections and other girly problems.
Final Thoughts: However, these differences are small, especially if you put your Monistat into another jar, so that people don’t know what the name of the primer is. I, for one do not care what people think when I whip out my Monistat, in fact I get enjoyment from explaining to people why I have it, and what it does. This is truly an amazing primer, and I recommend that everyone who has ever thought about using a primer, to give this little baby a try. I did, and I will NEVER spend $20 or more on a primer when I have my Monistat.
