Update: Court Reporting School

I mentioned a few days ago, that I was working on going back to school for court reporting. Right now I submitted my application for a student loan which will help pay for the rest of my tution. If all goes well, then I should be able to start school at the end of the Sept.

Right now my fingers are crossed that everything falls into place for me. I want this more than anything right now, even makeup. LOL!! I’ll definitely let you guys know what happens in the next few days.

Sorry for the unexplained absence

I realize that I have been neglecting this blog this past week, and I am sorry for that. I have been dealing with real life situations this past week. I got my finances in order and now I am looking into going back to school. I am working on going back to to study court reporting, which is an extremely difficult program to go through. I just can’t deal with being in a dead end 14 hr a week job any more. I need to make a change in my life and this is my way of doing it.

I have the feeling that these absense may become more frequent while I get settled into my new life path. I’m still going to post, so I hope you guys are understanble!!! My nerves are off the radar right now.

Stressed Out….

I’ve been really stressed out this past week. I’m waiting to hear back from a job, that would allow me to start my career in the hospitality industry. So my mind hasn’t really been on the blog lately. I also haven’t been hauling, my last one being the ELF Mineral one from the beginning of the month. I hope this explains why I haven’t been around much. I have had a lot on mind, and makeup and other beautyt stuff has been pushed to the back of my mind.

However, I have become inspired by Temptalia and her 30 Days of MUFE products. I am tossing around the idea of doing something like that with NYX or another brand that I have a lot of. What do you guys think? I’m definitely leaning towards NYX or ELF, but I don’t believe that I have enough of ELF to complete an entire month of posts.

Ugh… I’m way too stressed right now to figure this out. I’ll get back to this after I found out about my career…

Life

Life is short. You never know when it will be your time or the time of a loved one. Today we lost not only Farrah today, but we also lost Michael Jackson as well. Both were icons that helped define our and our parents generation.

Farrah was 62 when she passed away this morning from anal cancer. She had battled this illness for three years before leaving this world this morning. She inspired a generation of beauty and style with her infamous hair style and fashion choices.

Michael was 5o and was planning to do a concert run in the near future in London. He died from cardiac arrest this afternoon, shocking me more than Farrah’s death. I don’t need to say a word on the influence Michael made in this world.

My point in posting this tonight, is that my eyes have been opened tonight. Life is incredibly short, and the longer you put off doing something, the less time you will have to enjoy the benefits of what you want to do. We may not have tomorrow to tell someone something or to do what we could have done today.

The future is not something we have a right to – it’s a gift that we may not recieve. So the next time you want to put something off, please remember those who will never have a tomorrow, and take full advantage of today.

I know I will…

A Possible Sale? Any thoughts?

Lately, I’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of products I have in my collection, and I’ve been thinking about purging a lot out of my stash to not only make room for new new stuff, but so that I can focus in on brands that I really love.

So what do you guys think? Would you be interested in a sale? I have a large number of products that have only been swatched once and forgotten. I really don’t want to toss perfectly good and usuable items into the trash, when someone else could be enjoying them.

So please give me your thoughts on this. :)

A Word On My Reviews

There has been a lot of talk lately on the reliabilty on beauty reviews written by bloggers such as myself. Many people, including myself feel that there are too many reviews that are being written on the internet that seem to make an item too good to be true. The reason I’m bringing this up, is that people are starting to wonder why there is an influx of reviews on a certain product at the same time.

The truth is that we, beauty bloggers are sent free products to test and review. Some big time bloggers even get paid to write postitive reviews on certain products from brands. I know that this happens, however I don’t know which ones do get paid and from which companies. I can honestly tell you guys that I DO NOT GET PAID for my reviews. There are on occasion times where I get free products, sometimes samples, other times full sized products, to test and review. Any review I write is completely honest, and I don’t say one product is absolutely wonderful when I find it to be absolute crap. Many of the free products that I have reviewed have gotten a less than positive review. In fact, most of my negitive reviews that I’ve written are on the free products that I get. When I review a product that I have purchased, I usually tend to love the product, because I tend to research and purchase on what is going to work on me. Anything that I really dislike or even hate, I tend to return it to the store and get my money back.

As you guys know, I review both higher end and lower end products. I find quality in all price ranges. I am not WOWED by a big price tag and a fancy name. Many of my all time favorite products are found in the lower price ranges and would usually be passed on by beauty junkies who equate price with quality. However, there are some high end products that I highly recommend that really don’t have any lower priced equals. The point is, is that I ALWAYS tell you guys my true thoughts on a product – no matter how I get them, and how much I pay for them.

BUT for now on, I will always inform you guys on how I get the product, either by purchasing it or getting it free. I hope that more beauty bloggers start doing this as well. I think we are all over due for complete honestly in this area, because it’s our money at stake and there are many times where we can’t return something.

Small Break – Real Life Interferes

Hello my lovely makeup obsessed friends. I applogize for not posting as much as I should right now, but there are some realife issues I have been dealing with lately. I don’t want to go into too much detail, but a friend of mine has been needing my support while she detaches herself from a destructive relationship from another friend of mine.

I also have been dealing with problems at work, which thankfully doesn’t mean I’m losing my job. But I still have been very much involved in what is going on there.  I’m seriously going to try to get some stuff written, but please sit tight for me, while I work out my life right now. :)

NYX Sale, A Very Little Buy, & New Blog

I’m sure all of you already know about the NYX 50% sale that is going on now. So I’m not going to talk about it! The only thing I will say is that is going on now at Cherry Culture and the NYX Cosmetics website. I have taken advantage of this sale, and I will probably take advantage of it again before it’s over on the 15th.

Infact I have made the date of May 15th, the start of a Very Little Buy. This is like a No Buy, but I will cut back my spending a major deal. I have way too much crap as it is, and I’m starting to get annoyed with buying so much makeup. So I want to go on a Very Little Buy, in where I can still purchase something, but do it in a way that it doesn’t consume me anymore.  I still want to give myself a little bit of wiggle room, if I find something I really need or want. I want to be able to still purchase my favorite foundtion if I run out or if I come across a brush that I have my heart set on. But no more buying, just to have something. It feel like there isn’t anything new I already don’t have.

I do planning on finishing up my hauling from NYX, but as far as I can see, that’s about it. I don’t see myself doing any huge hauls after that for a while. I am planning on posting about that haul when everything comes in, and my haul from this past week. This past week I bought quite a bit, including MAC and Wet N Wild. I see that I need to find something else to keep me occupied now other than makeup shopping.

On that note, I am seriously, seriously considering starting up a new blog in where I talk about fitness stuff. I really want to get back into working out, and finding new ways to keep myself entertained while working out. Right now I’m looking at purchasing a new pair of rollerblades so I can skate again. I used to skate all the time when I was elementary school when rollerblades were extremely popular. But I’ll keep you guys updated on what is happening with that.
